Malaysians simply can’t resist a beautiful waterfall. They’d hike for hours for it, climb mountains and valleys for it. And just when we thought we’ve seen them all, here’s one waterfall that is truly different from all the rest.
Nicknamed Air Terjun Janda Mandi by the locals, this beautiful waterfall in Kijal, Terengganu is probably the only waterfall in Malaysia that flows directly into the ocean! It bears striking resemblances to Jeongbang waterfall in Jeju, South Korea!
Situated at Bukit Kijal, the trailhead to this hidden waterfall is located on the side of the road near Strawberry Kijal Resort. Getting here involves a 40-minute hike, following a rather obvious rocky path through dense jungle. It’s not advisable to attempt this hike during rainy season, as the path can be extremely slippery.
Furthermore, as the waterfall is located close to the sea, the best time to visit is during a low tide. These times vary each day, therefore we highly suggest engaging a guide to ensure the best experience possible.
