Connecting Rawang and Serendah, the Rawang Bypass took 12 years to construct and is the tallest bridge in Malaysia, standing at a height of roughly 60 meters above ground! Zigzagging its way through verdant rainforest, the view is a breathtaking one especially during a misty sunrise. People have flown drones to take aerial shots of this bridge, but if you don’t have one, how exactly do you get the best views of the Rawang Bypass?

As a matter of fact, there is a viewpoint you can get to, with the best views of the Rawang Bypass! The actual name of this viewpoint is ‘Bukit Matt’, its elevation tops out at just 200 meters. To get here, first you will need to drive to the trailhead of the Bukit Kuari Trail in Rawang Perdana, about 45 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur city centre.
Once you reach the trailhead, simply park your vehicle and follow the dirt road for about 5 minutes. The dirt road eventually opens up with the highway in view, but that’s not the end just yet. From here, there are two ways you can take to get to Bukit Matt.
The Longer But Scenic Route
From this point, turn right and follow the small maintenance road that runs along the highway for another 10 minutes until you reach the elevated part of the highway. From here, take a left and walk under the elevated highway to get across to the other side.
Or Take The Shortcut
This route isn’t as obvious and involves searching for a drainage tunnel underneath the highway. Once you’ve found the tunnel, simply enter and exit on the other side of the highway. Take note that the tunnel is quite narrow, dank and can sometimes be flooded with water, therefore it’s advisable not to take this route especially after a heavy downpour.

You’re almost there! Once across, simply follow the maintenance road along the highway until you find some steps that takes you up to the peak of Bukit Matt. Slowly ascend the steep cliff face by climbing up the steps. For safety, take your time and use the guide ropes when necessary.

The Rawang Bypass comes into view once you’re at the top. Take a moment to enjoy the views, snap a selfie or two before heading down using the same way you came.
