Mention floating markets, and the name Thailand usually springs to mind. Not many are aware that Malaysia also has its own version of floating markets and they can be found in Kelantan!
In Kelantan, there are two floating markets. The first floating market was set up a few years ago in Sungai Pengkalan Datu near Sering. The second market was opened in Pantai Suri, Tumpat.

The floating markets open on Saturdays (typically 8:00am till 2:00pm), where visitors can get their fill of authentic Kelantanese cuisine like nasi berlauk, nasi kerabu, akok, lokan bakar, tepung pelita and colek (deep-fried seafood in crispy batter).

Visitors to the floating market can enjoy traditional performances and go on a relaxing river cruise along the river. Tickets for the river cruise are priced at RM5 (for adults) and RM3 (for children).
